Aggy sat at a table towards the back of the cafeteria, a tray full of food in front of her. She studied the tray for a moment before deciding to eat her apple first, letting out a relieved sigh when she took that first bite.
She'd skipped breakfast this morning because she was running late for first period and there was no time to grab something quick. She'd been starving ever since, waiting anxiously for lunch time to come.
Looking around briefly, she wondered if anybody would sit with her today; generally somebody did make themselves welcome, but most of her friends were off doing last minute assignments in the library.
She looked down at her folder in the table. She, too, had an assignment due for English in her next period and while it wasn't the best thing she'd ever written - she'd even go as far to say it was absolute rubbish - at least she'd finished it on time, right?

Dakota had his tray in his hands as he made his way through the tables trying to find a seat for himself. He overlooked tables with one person because usually it meant that they didn't want to share or expecting people. His thought rushed through his mind when he spotted a girl sitting by herself. She was pretty, so why was she alone, he thought to himself. The room was pretty full and the amount of vacant seats was approaching zero, so he walked over to the pretty girl and in a softer shy voice, not pitiful though, asked, "May I sit with you, the room is kind of full" He didn't set his tray down or anything, mainly because what if she was mean about it. Dakota already felt wierd by the environment, there were to many people concentrated to one area.

"Oh, sure! Make yourself at home, gorgeous," Aggy said brightly, grinning at him. He was pretty cute.
She studied him for a moment out of the corner of her eye. He definitely looked younger than her, so she was going to say freshmen. However, she wasn't sure what elective he would have been.
She took a bite out of her apple, twirling a piece of hair around her finger absentmindedly. "So, what did you get in for? I'm a drama student."

Dakota grinned in one of those cute innocent boy grins. He liked it when people compliment him, especially pretty girls. He had the looks, and could get almost any girl he wanted at his old school, except he wasn't ever respected, just more of a trophy for dating with the hottest kid in school. He took a seat and sat his tray down. He was thinking of all the things he could say to her, charming and funny, calm and sincere, crude and bold. He went through all the lines in his head but landed on the calm and sincere line. He stuck out his hand for a shake and spoke, "Hi, thanks for the seat, I'm Dakota Hudson, but most people call me Kota for short. I got in here for Dance actually, I have acted before though, I'm pretty good, but I love Ballroom dance a lot. This is actually my freshman year, I'm really excited for it." He didn't want to seem to revealing but he didn't want to hold back on information, so he went with what felt natural to him.

Aggy almost blushed at his grin. It was so... unexpected here. A lot of the students were so stressed that they didn't smile often which Aggy found disappointing. She shook his hand firmly, smiling. "Hey. Nice to meet you, Kota - if it's alright I call you that? I'm Aggy... well, Agnes, but if you call me that then I'll Avada Kedavra you like they do in Harry Potter."
"Oh, cool," she said enthusiastically, dropping his hand once she'd finished shaking it. "You don't get many people who like ballroom dancing. Heaps of people here are into all that classical stuff... and hip hop."
She nodded. "I started in my freshmen year as well, thank goodness. I don't think I could have lived in the same house with my mum and brother any longer. They're both pains in the ass, excuse my french." She took another bite of her apple. "Oh! I'm a junior. Almost forgot, sorry. So how are you finding the school so far?"
